Since 1970, the Middle Tennessee Chapter has held a monthly class teaching driver safety to people who have been convicted of minor traffic offenses by the Davidson County (Metropolitan Nashville) General Sessions Court. This class is in cooperation with the Criminal Court Clerk’s office. In exchange for attending the class, the driver’s ticket is waived and the offense is not posted on their driving record.
The class emphasizes safe driving techniques and teaches attendees to recognize and avoid accident-producing situations while driving. Proceeds from the Driver School fund the ASSP Middle Tennessee Chapter activities and community outreach programs including: The Campus for Human Development (Guest House), ASSP Foundation, Dr. Robert Sanders Child Safety Seat Program, local college scholarships, the Tennessee Safety and Health Congress, and Be In The Click.
Keith Bain currently serves as the chairperson for our driver’s school.
